yeah, it's gonna be awhile guys, no funds or time, both time and $ are an issue nowadays, have been doing a bunch on the 80, building a 4x4 labs bumper now for it. I have some plans for the 80 and 40 coming up but as far as the piggy it is going to have to wait awhile. It is mothballed for now, will get done someday. I want to have enough $ saved up to get it done in one swoop.

that is a good plan... I am really glad I was able to get most of my stuff done on my 40 before harder times have hit. there is no way I could have built my truck in todays economy.

I hear ya- even now that I have no one to tell me what to do around the house- I still can't find the time for wrenching on my projects.
 
this was a fun thread to cruise thru...was really hoping to see it finished in the end but what a ton of work to get it to this point...very cool!

oh, it will get done guys, just mothballed for now, I have been hoarding parts for the project. I figure it will only just get more rare. :) My daughter keeps telling me that it is her truck. We have sat together a few times in the drivers seat and acted like we were driving.

Few questions.

You keeping the 2F still?

Does getting all mechanically sound, then dismantling to the frame for rust abatement sound reasonable?

Did you notice much movement in the body when setting back on the frame?
 
nah, the piggy will be a rarity, kinda over the 40's, moving on.

keeping the 2f, gotta keep it simple

dismantling a frame is dicey from what I read, would hate to have to figure out that everything is square once again after putting it back together. IMO, there are so many ways to coat the interior channels anyhow. My frame was in fairly good shape. I just painted the exterior and cleaned the channels best I could. I may spray some wax in the channels later on.

not much movement in my body, it was in fairly good shape. Had some rust spots but not so bad the body was flexing. The main body was fairly true when I took it off and reinstalled.

I was asking about dismantling TO the frame, like you did, for clarification.

Have done good ideas from several threads on protecting the interior channels, so couldn't see need to dismantle.

Anything new, Guppie? I read through your thread and it's inspiring me to to try my hand at it, even though I have ZERO experience with body or mechanics. However, seeing your struggles does give me great pause.
Nevertheless, I am interested in the Ironman lift too, so I'm anxious to see how yours sits.

Family comes 1st, belive me I understand.
 
meh, it's sucks, but it's just a car, just no time or money to finish it nowadays, would rather work on the 80 and spend more time outdoors with the family making memories, just went to anza borrego last weekend, launch hobby rockets we built, julian pie, 4 wheeling and camping in the middle of nowhere......
