Just hit terra firma on the left coast. I had another great time at GSMTR. Went out with the GA crew on Friday, and I can honestly say that they wheel their junk every bit as hard as the west coast guys, some even harder. I am really impressed with the new park. Several of the obstacles we hit Friday and Saturday were on par with the Rubicon, and the added bonus that you don't have the bs of dealing with so called 'public' lands makes it in some ways even more attractive than Rubicon. The amount of trash on the trails was kind of a bummer, but maybe we can come up with some ideas on that.
I am going to be thinking about arranging a transport for my '68 the next time I fly back...it was that much fun.

I have been watching hours of video all making me super home sick. I hope my Cruiser gets delivered in one piece so I can make you all envious of some runs in Luzon or to Mount Pinatubo!

A fair amount, but not as much as last time. Got to the main campfire Thursday night, and got some of the Cottanland crew in to the spirit of things. Friday night the raffle ran late [with the extra excitement of the FJ80 raffle]. Saturday night we just hung out with the GA group sipping on Jim Beam Maple and trying to ignore the light drizzle.
Thanks to everyone involved in putting this event together - Roger, Andy, Todd, and I'm sure many others. We had an outstanding time!
Cottonland likes to play music trivia...basically "Name That Tune" with a bunch of beer but without the bid-a-note. Mark and his guitar hosted the game for us Thursday night...good times!

Thanks for the compliments about the GA crew Mark. We wheel quite hard, yet rarely with more than 25% throttle (save for the last 150' of trail 3, that is - haha), and are pretty proud of that. As for getting your rig out there, don't forget about Spanky and his Jeep buddy. Get in touch with them well in advance and I'm sure they'd be happy to help if they can fit it in somehow. I'd "swing by" and pick it up on my way from Seattle if I was ever able to take 3 weeks off just for GSMTR.

Yup!! Shoulda hung on Saturday like Steve said. 15 to School bus to Stair Steps to top of 3 with all the big buggies, was a great day of hardcore wheeling. Twas a great way to end GSMTR.
Now bring on the pics....
Stopped and got some J bolts on the way home. Hood struts are next. Enjoyed riding with you guys.What would a GSMTR be without a battery hold down issue on the trail?

Any write-ups or photos from the expedition run? Maybe they're posted elsewhere and I haven't seen them?
What happened with that? Nobody sign up??
Todd had bearing/seal issues and I guess a couple people dropped out.
Well, at least we had fun scouting part of it! Maybe next year.
