I installed the new sensor today and all seems fine now. I would note that I think the problem with my old sensor was the little ball joint on the arm that bolts on. It was basically seized due to lack of grease and probably some rust and the seal was compromised. Not sure if I could have just ordered that part but I am going to see if I can find one and keep the old sensor as a spare.
