Grinding the "tabs" off the stereo mounting bracket?

I just bought a single din aftermarket stereo to replace the POS double din that someone installed in my 2000 LC. The brackets are still the factory brackets, but the little bumps or tabs don't seem to line up well with recessions in the side of the new unit. Anyone ever just grind those bump things off the bracket to make a better fit?

Thanks. Just in case I am way too vague in my description, I'm referring to the little protuberances like the ones I circled in yellow.

Just had to grind one off each bracket and then they fit, easy after that.

Yup I just filed them down flat. No issues.

Mine was just an inexpensive Dual single din from Crutchfield.
