Grinding noise at end of start/crank

My 1998 LC is starting to make a short (a second or less in duration) grinding noise after I start the engine. The engine will always start, but 9 out of 10 starts will have this short grinding noise. Should I have the start replaced?

Most likely the starter bendix hanging up on the flexplate ring gear (not retracting as quickly as it should).

But I will add that eventually it will get worse and it will chew up the teeth on your flywheel.
This needs to be addressed sooner than later.
