grinding 4.88's

I went to install a set of 4.88's last night and found I had to grind the gears a bit to get the cross shaft out .I've heard this is the case .Just checking to make sure. P.S. I am running a detroit in the back.

yep you should have to do that if you have a locker, but if you put the locker in your should have had to grind some of it to get the shaft IN, try frinding the grind marks that were done when the locker was installed...

I used the sanding drum on a dremel to make it fit. Similar radius as the pin. Makes for a nice fit and it's slow enough you don't take too much off. Hit it with some really fine sand paper and wet sand a bit and it's good to go. Not as fast as some methods (took me about 15 min for each diff) but great results.
