[Don't know if this is tech or chat, but I'll post here and mods can place as needed]

I recently busted the bolt going into the frame end of my OME steering stabilizer on my 'hippie' 80 ( :flipoff2: Beerman).

After trying to source one from many different vendors, I decided to just email ARB and see what they could do for me. I figured my email would end up in a junk folder in someone's email client.

Low and behold, I guess the email went directly to Jim Jackson, President of ARB-USA in Renton, WA.

They are sending it to me "ASAP" and at no cost.

    Kudos to ARB-USA... :)

Here's the text of my message and how they responded to me:

    Hello Sirs:

Unfortunately, I broke an Old Man Emu (OME) Steering Stabilizer bolt for my 1997 FZJ80.

Specifically, I broke the bolt that goes into the frame end (not the tie rod end).

All of the authorized dealers I have spoken with either will not sell me a bolt or have not responded to my inquiries.

Is there any way ARB in the US can provide this for me? I will of course be happy to pay you for the bolt.

Thank you very much for your time and quality products.

    Sorry Kurt...

From a past post--maybe in Chat--I understood that you were out of the 'getting parts' business and you were concentrating on local shop kinda of stuff....sorry I didn't call. I would've had I known you were still in the parts business.

EDIT:  I guess your sig. has that there...my bad...

Hey, that is great. We actually had yours sitting here, but we were waiting to get a price from ARB so we knew what to charge. The part is not a normal stocking part.

It is not a case of not wanting to sell one, it is a case of sourcing the part from ARB and getting the pricing.

    [edit]
ARB has the customers interest at heart, so since they have most parts in stock and dealers do not, sometimes customers get faster response on non standard parts direct fron ARB. It is easier for them to grab one, even if it is part of a assembly, and send it to the customer to get them going again.[/edit]

I edited the post, because it came over as if I was knocking ARB, but I just wanted to explain the situation when people are looking for parts that are not normally sold individually.

No sweat... I did scale things back a little bit while I was finishing up my toughest semester... but I am 100% back in the full-swing :D

PS. ARB does have great customer service when the consumer calls them, but I have to agree with Christo on the dealer service on some occasions :(
