Got my new stereo in!

With help from a friend, we managed to pull the dash off, Thanks to your guys information, and get the new stereo in..

Pictures will come in a few but I got excited as soon as i got it together and working i had to post this.

I also routed a Ipod cable, when i get an ipod =D

Check out the new Kenwood double din head units with nav. They're sweet.

Has anyone here seen the new Pioneer AVIC-D3? MSRP is $1000. Best price I've seen on an in-dash nav system. Doesn't use the internal hard drive the other pioneer units do, but looks to be a good unit for the $$.

Go with eclipse. The AVN has built in toyota harness. So all you have to do is plug your factory harness in. No aftermarket needed. Also, some of the later models of OEM units from toyota are made by eclipse. I would definately recommend eclipse over any other head unit out there and yes that includes ALL alpine units (except alpine f-1 status). Try out the sound quality in any of those other brands and I guarantee that eclipse will out do them. Also, the laser that eclipse uses are amazing. Do this, take your most scratched and beat up CD to your local audio shop and put it in the kenwood and then put it in the eclipse, i think the results will speak for themselves. Goodluck

I'm guessing the Eclipse model needs to plug into the wiring to get the speed and braking info. Does that built-in harness do that too or are those separate connections?

Yes Those are separate connections. The toyota harness plugs are for memory/power/remote turn on/antenna/speakers. The things you need to have are for speed sense wires and e-brake info.

I have a 97 LC. I downloaded the wiring diagram and other manuals last night, so I'm going to start going through those. Any pointers you can give to finding these wires would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure when I'll be making this purchase, but the more I can learn about it now, the better off I'll be.
