Hey everyone, just wanted to say Hi and introduce myself. Im a newbie to the Cruisers but I've admired and wanted one for so long. Finally was able to get my hands on a great looking 60 imho. Right now its completely stock. I bought it from the original owner, its an 87 garage kept FJ60. its got 334,000 miles on it. The motor seems to work great and no odd noises or anything yet. The owner kept every maintenance log from the day he bought it. Im curious what everyone here thinks would be a good first project for the Cruiser. Im thinking of getting an Old Man Emu suspension kit installed first to help with the worn out leaf springs.

I've got some exterior cosmetic additions planned as well. ARB brush guard, and roof rack will be installed soon. Ill post pics after all done.

Congrats man! I wouldn't do anything major right now until you've put a few thousand miles on her. Go over the service logs carefully to see what's been done recently. With that many miles, I'd run a compression test and see what happens. There may be some rebuild in your near future. Make sure you baseline everything too. All in all, just have fun!

Just remember that all the weight you add to that truck won't make it any faster. Enjoy it as it is for a while, and buy stuff as you need it. Sounds like a great truck - show us some pictures!

Seeing that pics I posted didn't come through. I'm working on sending now

Thanks for the input! I'm going to enjoy it for a while and take care of issues as they come up. Working on getting pics online

Like everyone has said, take some time and get to know the 60. Check all the fluids. That alone will give you a good idea of the condition of the engine ,trans, t-case ect.... By all means, just have fun with it and make sure you really like it. Welcome to the addiction:).

Not too worried about liking it. Been wanting a cruiser for over 5 years. Had my eye on this one for years

She's a beauty. I'm not sure I'd do too much to that truck at all. Let's see some pics of the inside now

Get the fxxx... What a great looking truck. Yep, this one should stay unmolseted. Pics of undercarriage??? Also, I would run a mild lift and that's it. A lift generally takes a way from the oversized minivan look, lol

Upon further review of your latest pics, I stand by my original post and advise you not to modify that truck. Man... You got the original stereo, dash pad looks clean, upholstery seems fresh, etc...

I would concentrate just on restoring/refreshing anything that needs attention. Spend money on suspension, engine rebuild, transfer case and other drive train areas. No bumpers, no racks... Leave it pure man.

Very nice find brother!

Oh yeah... I'd like to see some pics of that sweet 2F under the hood please. And let's have a look at the undercarriage and knuckles too. You can usually tell how well one of these have been cared for by looking at those areas.

Very nice. Check the bottoms of the door seams for rust, and squirt some oil or spray Lithium grease in there, if it has started. That truck looks so nice that if your only worries are a leaking oil pan and weeping steering knuckles, count yourself blessed. And maybe those aren't even problems!

Karo123, Welcome to Mud, and congrats on a stunning find! At 334,000 miles, your truck is a testament, a shining example of the the build quality, the engineering and design talent that comes from Toyota when it comes to the Landcruiser. If you're a car guy, or lady, you gotta love these trucks!

My opinion, keep the look as original as you can. The PO of my truck made some alterations and I am slowly returning it to it's original vibe. One example of what the PO did was remove the rear crossmember to install an aftermarket bumper; I found a used one from a Mud Vendor and I am cleaning it up and will attach it.

I'll send more pics showing undercarriage later this evening.

I really appreciate all the input! The more I drive this 60 the more I know I made a good decision. Thanks again!
