Slipped down near Santa Rosa for a bit of a mod. Went well, worked out well, looks great.
They took all this off to make it work

and all of these too

But in the end we ended up with this

Nice Russ! Now you need larger tires to fill in all that space.

looks good congrats

Looking good Russ. When I took those pesky leaf springs off my 80 the ride improved so much.:D

You have a serious need for tire. Let us know what you get.

leaf springs on an 80?

:D

Nice looking rig Russ! She looks great "improved".

Thanks boys. OME Jsprings(heavy per G.K. recomendation) all around. Springs, shocks and stabalizer with castor correction bushings in the control arms. Haven't settled in yet although they got a 260 mile ride home.
Hoping the squishyness in the steering goes away some. A bit of a hike up into the cab now but sure does look good.
Bigger tires won't come till these wear out. Looking forward to sliders but that will also come later. Kind of busted my buget for now. Still driving the 60 to work to display it for sale.

Bear - I'm also running the Edelbrock Performer IAS shocks. Best shocks I've ever run on a vehicle. It's amazing how they reduce bouncing in the rocks and on the road. Cornering on off-ramps and on-ramps are much flatter. What's been your experience ?

I recently found out that they are no longer producing them for the 80. I broke one where it mounts to the axle and was looking for a replacement which they'll do for the life of the shock. None left in the country. I ended up welding the shaft back onto the mounting point and it's working well. Edelbrock said that Rancho is now producing the same shock (RSX) utilizing the same enertia valve technology that they copied.

Ah, J-springs. Looks nice and level for it to be J's all around.

Yep, I'v heard that Edelbrock droped the ISA for the land cruiser. I had both my rear set start to leak, so I sent them to Edelbrock last July and they promptly sent me a new set. I agree the ISA are by far the best shocks I've ever owned, the reduction in rebound is amazing and they ride so smooth. I may look into the Rancho RSX, however I don't think they have a set for the 80 series.

That is nice. I hope to see some pictures on Monday of what looks like muddy!

So you have the OME heavies all the way around? Any regrets? I have them on order for my 96 and have been heming and hawing that maybe I should have gone with mediumd. I am all stock now and don't see any extra weigh for a year or so. I am worried about the "handling anomilies" Slee mentions on his site

Looks nice Russ. That's the first time I have seen J's sit level or higher in the front. Was a spacer used up front too?

I didn't think it was higher in the front. Mudrak was looking for a level look and suggested the heavies. No spacers. I'd like to get the front and rear bumper set up but sliders will probably be next so I'll not have as much weight on for a while.

I also didn't know that J's were available in different spring rates, I am raked with my J's but I'm loaded up front and waiting to add my rear bumper to see how it sits. Will you be heading to the McGrew this year?

J's are only in the heavy load. I think he has the standard non-J heavy rear springs with J's up front.

That would make sense and if Mudrack did it I'm sure it sits real close to level.

I have the rancho RS9000X shocks in my truck and am happy with them (not RSX). My only suggestion about these is do not buy the incab shock adjustment system, it sucks!!!!!!

McGrew?
Maybe not. Might not be able to get that sat. off. The 93 isn't trail tested and thought about not taking it. That'd give the paint one more year of scratch free life. Maybe a ride-a-long but still not sure if I can get the weekend off.
We'll see. Kind of dissapointed.
I believe Mudrak said all 4 springs are heavy J's.

Will miss you on the trail Russ. If Gary is there I will ask about how he kept the J's level while we are  around the fire. Enjoy the 80 build, it sure is fun to watch them come together.
