Got a RTT, need a rack - Seeking Advice (1 Viewer)

I just picked up very heavily discounted hardshell tent from REI — the Smrt Tent Summit Suite 2.0. It’s kinda big — 84.5” x 60” x 6.3” — and weighs in at 160lbs. Can anyone advise me on a roof rack that will safely mount this tent to my 2000 LX470? What will I need to mount, beyond the rack itself? Thanks in advance!

You should have at least 3 mounting points. on the rack. There are a lot of good racks out there. A quick search on google will result several. Im personally a fan of the ARB base rack for the 100.

Thule or Yakima crossbars are an option as well.

I had a steel ARB. I switched to an aluminum Frontrunneroutfitters one for lower profile and weight savings. The less weight up high the better.

Thanks everybody! It sounds like you’re suggesting that any of the aftermarket racks much do the job for me. That’s what I need to know!

Do you plan to mount anything else to the rack besides the tent? A simple and more economic solution might be to get some of the Gamiviti towers and fashion your own cross bars out of some 8020.

I have my CVT on top of a steel truck cap with two cross bars in this fashion (I just used some angle iron for the mount points) and it's more than adequate
