Hi all,

This is my very first post to Ih8mud. I am glad to join the community. I recently was able to get my brothers 89 fj62 out here to Colorado. I had to flatbed it from Ohio, but am really looking to get it trail worthy. It currently isn't running, and I am scratching my head as to why. It's an electrical issue emanating in the fuel pump. It is time to take it to a good shop, that and the rear shock hanger rusted out, so I need to have that fabricated too.

Has anyone had any experiences with shops out here near

Denver for electrical and fabrication? I am looking for someone who will do it right as I want to enjoy the cruiser for years to come. Thank you all for any advice!

Also, just incase this isn't the correct area to post, any guidance on the right forum area would be appreciated too.

I used to work at a shop about 30 minutes from Denver that does a lot of work on those and other cruisers. Its called Colorado Toyota Specialists. 303.838.4772. It's a small shop, nothing fancy looking, but they will treat you right.

Thank you so much! That is a great starting point and I really appreciate you taking the time to pass along that info. Cheers

That is fantastic, thanks for sharing that! I will eventually find someone to help get the beast up and running. Hopefully this is the guy. Cheers

HI Everyone,

I wanted to give everyone an update. I know it has been a bit, I moved into a new home, changed up the career, and got engaged, so it has been a busy chapter in life. I was able to get the truck over to the Colorado Toyota Specialists. Joe (the owner) was super helpful and got the beast running! It was a broken wire in the rear quarter panel. He looked over the truck and said the body, engine, and drivetrain were all in solid shape. The downside is the frame has gotten to a point where it just needs replaced before I can ever get the truck truly off-road worthy. Now comes the next chapter of saving for that. Duh duh duhhhh. Thank you all again for the help.

As a side note, I am not used to this interface. Hopefully everyone can see that reply that the cruiser runs, or do I need to reply to everyone individually? Being a 30 year old man that teaches and uses technology regularly, I feel super useless in here ha.

We can all see the good news that the truck is up and running.

It’s funny you should say that. I went to CTS earlier this year to have them put new springs and shocks on my FJ60 and they told me the same thing. My frame was too rusted to do any sort of off roading or even install the new springs.

I ended up at another shop where they didn’t have an issue with my frame (mostly surface rust with the exception of the typical c-channel rot in the back). The truck’s been off road plenty since then and has had no issues.

Long story short, I’d get a 2nd opinion. Not to say CTS is wrong, just seems a little odd. I did drive by there the other day and noticed an FJ60 sitting on the ground without a frame...

High Country Performance 4x4 in Englewood has been very helpful. Probably not the most knowledgeable on the older Toyota’s, but maybe between the two of us we can get them up to speed ;)
