I don't mean like $50 but $350 or under. We just smoked our 3 year old Whirlpool, was pretty expensive but apparently no matter what you spend they last three years and you throw them away. Black or Stainless will work in our decor, must be an over the range model.......whatcha got?

I really don't think there is one out there that is really well made.

Conversely, we have a Food Service program here with a HUGE kitchen where they teach all sorts of food prep, culinary classes, etc. They have an ANCIENT original RadarRange microwave, and try as they have, they can't seem to break it. The thing is a tank, heavy commercial stainless cabinet, old-school dial timer. Looks like this:

check lowes and homedepot.. the ones down here are repo-ing stuff from spec. houses and reselling it on the "secret isle". the secret isle is usually all the way in the back of the store and its just random stuff.

Good and cheap don't always come together.

Get a speedcook microwave with infrared and convection too. You will wonder how you lived without one, especially if you have kids that like frozen fast food. Crisp frozen pizza with a brown topping in 8 minutes. Great baked potatoes that are crisp outside in 10 minutes. They are amazing and they have a setting for every kind of food you can imagine.

Ihave had a GE Advantium speed cook for over 10 years with no problems.

As our Whirlpool items die a sudden and premature death, we replace them with better quality items.

We have a Magic Chef MVP 111 OTR Microwave and the build date is Sept 1990. We have had 0 problems with it since we installed it in 1991. The wife thinks the big box with shelves under the 4 burner stove is a place to store pots and pans. She uses the Microwave for everything.

I'd give you mine if you were closer. I'm replacing it with a range hood. The only thing we use our microwave for anymore is heating up coffee and the occasional bag of popcorn.

We bought a NICE Breville counter top oven a couple years back and haven't used the micro much since.

We'll probably buy a counter top microwave, but it'll be small.

We had our kenmore range hood/mic start making an unreal noise like the old spaceships flash gordon used to fly in. It was about 5 years old.

What we do?

Why go buy another of course...

The fun part is pulling the stove out to drop the 75lb microwave and reinstalling a new one by my lonesome. It kills me to throw this thing out because of what I would deem premature failure but after reading like 100 pages on microwaves it seems three years is the average life span.
