Chaouki Bou-Antoun ... prepared to fund "the cruel and callous murder" of the rape victim.

A Sydney father who wanted a hitman to kill his son's teenage rape victim will spend a maximum 14 years behind bars for the "cruel and barbaric'' murder plot.

Chaouki Bou-Antoun, 51, was today jailed for a minimum 10 years for trying to have the 16-year-old girl murdered in 2003.

The Lebanese-born father-of-five had been prepared to fund "the cruel and callous murder'' so the girl, known only as Rebecca, could not give evidence in his son's gang rape trial, NSW District Court judge Robert Sorby said.

Rebecca was gang raped at North Bondi in Sydney's east in March 2003.
Chaouki's son, Khater Bou-Antoun, 21, was arrested over the rape in May that year and told his cell-mate at Silverwater Jail he wanted to have the girl killed.

In a recorded conversation with a hitman, who was really an undercover police officer, Khater Bou-Antoun said he wanted the girl raped before she was killed.

"Then I want you to pop (shoot) her in the stomach, then pop her in the eye and the forehead,'' he told the undercover policeman.

He said he wanted Rebecca shot in the stomach first to inflict lots of pain.

The men planned to pay the "hitman'' $23,000 to rape and murder Rebecca.

Chaouki Bou-Antoun paid a $3000 deposit to the undercover officer in December 2003, but claims he never intended to go through with the killing and was not going to pay the remaining balance of $20,000.

"I'd no intention of giving him one more cent,'' the court was told.

He claimed he was sorry and only went along with the plot initially because he was worried his son would be killed in jail.

"He pushed me with this plan, he pushed me,'' the court was told he had said.

But Judge Sorby said Chaouki Bou-Antoun was a mature man who did not try to stop the planned murder.

"There was no evidence up to the payment of $3,000 that the offender ever told his son the plan was foolhardy and wrong,'' he told the court.

He said the "cold-blooded'' murder plot of the "innocent sexual assault victim'' was motivated by the desire to stop her testifying.

Chaouki Bou-Antoun, who pleaded guilty to soliciting a hitman, was sentenced to 14 years' jail and a non-parole period of 10 years.

With time already served, he will be eligible for parole in December 2013.

In May this year, Khater Bou-Antoun was jailed for at least 14 years for raping Rebecca and trying to have her killed.

what do you suppose their sentence would be in philly?

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A man convicted of robbing businesses while wearing traditional Islamic women's clothing that hid his face was sentenced Wednesday to 82 years in prison.

Stanley Skeeters, 30, was convicted in March of the armed robberies of three pizza parlours and a grocery store committed by a burqa-clad gunman.

"Employees were tied up and terrorized, staring at the barrel of a sawed-off shotgun, wondering if they were going to live to see another day," U.S. Attorney Patrick Meehan said.

Skeeters was convicted of conspiracy, interference with interstate commerce by robbery and firearms charges.

His lawyer did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

The sentencing here is a joke. If he had got more the bleeding hearts would be crying "Racial Discrimination". Typical of their attitude to the average Oz woman.

It's common to do honor killings in many Islamo-Fascist countries. In Iran, it's perfectly acceptable and expected for a woman to be killed by her in-laws, and others for dishonoring the family. How does a girl dishonor her family? By talking back, walking with another man, disobeying orders, or breaking curfew.

This was the main theme of a prime-time Iranian soap opera that was on a few years back. The good guys successfully killed the woman who was worse than an infidel to her husband and his family. It was the top show in the ratings for a long time.

The show was reviewed in a National Geographic article on Iran a few years ago.

Here's more if you don't believe that the Koran toting Islamo-Fascists are capable of brutal feats. Imagine how they treat non-Muslim "infidels" if they treat their own people this way under their common system of law.

    From: http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=16800

(This picture, smuggled out of Iran, was taken in 1992 in the town of Arak)

Given Iran’s incessant foreign policy saber-rattling—including its continued development of nuclear weapons, support for Islamist terrorist groups, and facilitation of the terrorism in Iraq—it’s easy to lose sight of the horrifying domestic situation within the Islamic Republic. The mullahs have not only destroyed the lives of countless foreigners through their worldwide export of Islamic terror and extremism; they’ve also plunged the Iranian people into a violent, hellish abyss of torture, repression, hopelessness, drug addiction and despair.

Conservative estimates by Iranian opposition movements and various human rights organizations, such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, put the number of women stoned to death in Iran since the establishment of the Islamic Republic in the neighborhood of fifty. One can only imagine the cases that have gone undetected -- as many Islamic "punishments" are carried out in small and remote villages.

Women sentenced to death by stoning are buried in the ground up to their necks. Iranian law regulates the size of the stones used by the executioner crowd; stones cannot be big enough to kill the sentenced woman too quickly, as the purpose of this barbaric ritual is to inflict as much pain as possible before death. On the other hand, stones cannot be too small, as each blow must be dramatically painful.

Sometimes a single mullah serves as judge, jury and executioner. Hadji Rezai is the mullah judge of the small city of Neka. When Atefeh Rajabi, a young and psychologically unstable girl, refused to be his "temporary" wife, Rezai framed her with the blessings of the high court in Tehran. Allegations of sexual misconduct were fabricated against her, so that she could be brought to “justice” according to the scorned Rezai, who personally hung the noose around Atefeh’s neck. Rezai’s last words to the dying young girl: “This will teach you to disobey!”

Several cases such as this have been documented, where dodgy legal procedures and politically motivated mock trials have been used, with pre-written death sentences for dissidents who have been falsely accused of common crimes such as rape. The steady rise of stoning, public executions and flogging is certainly an indication of the seriousness of the situation in Iran. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. A profound malaise affects the Iranian society as a whole, a symptom of which is the rising number of drug addicts, which is growing out of control, especially among the younger population.

Such rules and regulations are quite ephemeral in the Islamic Republic. In a particularly gruesome execution carried out in 1993 in the city of Arak, a woman was to be stoned to death in front of her husband and two young children. After the stoning began, the woman was able to free herself from the hole in the ground, escaping death. According to Shariah laws, in such cases the woman must be let go, as her death sentence was revoked by divine intervention. Ten minutes after the failed stoning, however, the poor woman was chased down, apprehended and summarily executed anyway, by a firing squad.

i realise the article is cut and paste but the photo of the woman getting buried seems seriously chopped...
if i was going to bury a woman i would dig a deeper hole to start with... (not that i have any inclination that way at all) but the way they are burying her is a bit backward and what is with the slant she is on...?
(not that i agree with the practice of stoning)

he didn't start the thread and was responding to being called out by red herring. plus he sourced it so you can go vett it for yourself. does the fact he didn't write it or take the photos undermine it somehow?

It's not a chop. The pic accompanies an article by Banafsheh Zand-Bonazzi. She is a Iranian writer, activist and Middle East pundit who remains in exile, yet continues to write about the brutal ruling regime.

Another news worthy article from awhile back:

PARIS, 16 Oct. (IPS) Almost two months after having hanged a 16 year old girl, the ruling Iranian ayatollahs are to commit another human crime by condemning another young girl to stoning.

According to Iranian and foreign press, Zhila Izadi, a 13 year old girl from the north-western city of Marivan had been condemned to death by stoning after being found that she had been pregnant from her 15 years-old brother.

The independent Iranian online newspaper “Peyke Iran” (www.peykeiran.com) that had first revealed the news last week reported on Saturday 16 October 2004 that the girl has given birth two weeks ago in prison.

While Zhila as been sentenced to stoning, her brother, jailed in Tehran, is to receive only 150 lashes, in accordance with Islamic laws.

Mrs. Shirin Ebadi, the Iranian outspoken lawyer and human rights activists who became the first Iranian and Muslim female to win the prestigious Nobel Peace Award for 2003 disclosed the news about the case of Zhila Izadi during her recent tour of Scandinavian countries.

The circumstances under which Zhila became pregnant from her brother is still not known, but independent Iranian sources outside the country said it was the father, a devout Muslim, who informed the authorities about the “disgrace” the young girl had caused the family.

Human rights activists in Denmark said though Zhila’s sentence had not been confirmed yet, but the fear is that, with the family’s approval, she faces the same faith as that of Ms. Ateqeh Rajabi, the 16 years-old girl hanged in public by the judge, a cleric, who condemned her on charges of prostitution.

“A court in Marivan has condemned Zhila to death by stoning and the family, which is very fundamental, has agreed”, confirmed Ms. Nahid Riazi of a Copenhagen-based human rights group that fights to the rights of women, adding that the young girl had been separated from her new born baby after the birth."

I found some videos online showing actual Iranian stonings, but the content is too disturbing to post. You can look for it and find it easily if so inclined.
