Well, I struck a deal with the gentleman that had the 1978 Canadian FJ45 LWB for sale in Oklahoma and I'm going to pick it up tomorrow.

It has some rust issues but they don't look too bad - at least in the pictures that is. He has sent me over 100 pictures of the truck so I have a pretty good idea what I am getting myself into.

It is missing a few pieces and a few of the body parts appear to be from the wrong year so I will be looking for some help from you experts soon. Here is one of the pics.

Trying the pic thing again

Congrats! Nice looking rig!

You have no idea how jealous I am.......

Nice buy :) And have fun!

Matt

Looks good, congrats. Post up some more pics when you pick it up..

'78's are awesome! (a somewhat biased opinion - see sig line).

Congrats!

Well, we made it home safely. Only 550 miles round trip because the seller met me half way.

It runs and drives good considering the fact that it has basically been parked since 2000. The engine, transmission, suspension and frame all look good, doesn't even leak any oil anywhere. 4WD works good. Its gonna need power steering, or I'm going to have to start working out some.

Mother Nature has been making good progress on reclaiming the body over the years.

I'm going to need more time looking at it with a beer in my hand to develop a plan on how to proceed.

:beer::beer::beer:

I don't know anything about its life in Canada, but I got all of the documentation for everything that has been done to the truck since it came to the US with all receipts to back it up. Documentation begins in December 1990, so I'm guessing that is when it got here. I even got the ads from Hemmings and Auto Trader from when it was sold previously along with a cashiers check stub from one of the purchases. Check out these pics.

Anyone recognize or know anything about this truck?

All of my pics are too big, so I am trying a different way to post them. Any suggestions?

I uploaded some pics to photobucket.com and tried to post a link, but it doesn't seem to be working for me.

shrink them down.

need saginaw ps plates?!:grinpimp:

If you have a PC, then you should automatically have a program called "Paint".

If you were to right click on the .jpg picture then you have the option to "Edit". Choose "Edit". Then all you have to do is hit "save as". There your pics should be smaller in file size. If you have problems, email them to me and I will do it for you.

Gotta like that vintage, they can look real cool when restored.

Rhino,

Got this from another website about how to shrink pics to size. I used the MS solution and works great. Hope it helps!

3. RESIZING IMAGES FROM CAMERAS AND SCANNERS
There are dozens of ways to resize and compress photos for web. We touch on only two (easy and free!) ways here.

Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

The “Image Resizer” PowerToy enables you to resize one or many image files with a right-click. Simply download the software at the link above (ImageResizer.exe) and install it on Windows XP. After installation, right-click on any image file and select “Resize Picture” from the menu. In the popup window, we recommend you select “Small (640 x 480)”, “Handheld PC (240 x 320)” or a unique “Custom” size, found under the “Advanced” toggle button. Click OK and you’re done! Keep in mind that the attachment file size limit for this message board is 100 KB.

Picasa - http://picasa.google.com

Picasa is free photo management software from Google that helps you find, edit and share your pictures. Picasa automatically organizes all your image files into collections of folders inside its main Library view.

See this web page for getting started:

Cool, Thanks for the resizing info. Warrior_1515 helped me get them resized earlier (thank you again) but I still cannot post them because of my attachment quota. As far as I can tell that is because I'm not a Silver Star member yet.

So, I just signed up to be a Silver Star Member and will try again tomorrow.

Rob, thanks for sending the pics of your truck, I just love looking at these things.

Marvin
