Hey guys, i have the original brake master cylinder and booster in my truck. My booster is slowly dieing with a vaccum leak. But the main issue is that in the past 2 weeks, my pedal has been acting kind of funny. Just to clarify, it's not the drum adjustment, i tried adjusting with no success. Sometimes the brakes grab at the top of the pedal, then all of a sudden, the brakes sink to the floor. I flushed all the fluid out of the lines and readjusted the drums with no succes. I have new calipers and cylinders since about 1.5 years ago. I took the drums apart and cleaned the cylinders. When i push the pedal, even if it doesn't sink to the floor immediately, after a few seconds of staying midway, it starts to sink with a bit more pressure, so it's either my master or booster.

So i'm gonna go to a pullapart yard tomorrow and pull the booster and master off of a a toyota truck or 4 runner. I just want to know does it have to be a 4x4? They have an 87 pickup 4x4, a 90 4runner, a 78 80 86 and a 95 standard pickup. So which one will work with my current setup of front disc and rear drum.

Also, just did a soa in the rear of my fj40, i nead a double cardan drive shaft, which trucks driveshaft will work with my fj40? Thanks.

If your booster is bad, you will have a difficult time (hard pedal) applying the brakes. If the brakes go to the floor when pressure is held, it is the master cylinder. DO NOT go with a reman or aftermarket (long history of repeat failure and poor performance). Get a Toyota M/C from Cruiser Dan to fix it.
Been through this with both my 80 and 40. Terry

I figured it was the mater, just need to know what to get now from the trucks that i listed.
