Thanks @under_psi for coming up and putting some nice welds on these plates and gussets.

I got some 1/2” grade 8 hardware to finish it off

You need a better rear bumper. That thing on there now looks hokey as hell.....with the giant angle iron mount.

Truck looks great though. Would like to drive one of your semi resto mods. Curious as to the performance and drivability. I am assuming it's good cause you are converting everything. :grinpimp:

This bumper is pimp-tastic. I do agree that I could take the plasma to that big ass right angle but I’m kinda sick of grinding right now.

Yeah, the Sniper 2F with 3.70s and 4 speed/split it a magic combo. Add the 255s and it gets even better.
I just hope your brake formula works :)

I spent about 4 hours under the Goat today buttoning up everything I can while it is in the rack shop. I need to clear this thing out so I can put my fuel tank back into my 80.

Checklist items done today

✔️exhaust welded in
✔️Clutch slave bracket made and installed
✔️Made a tab to hold the speedometer into the case. What a pain in the ass that was.
✔️installed the front driveshaft.
✔️bolted the gas tank in

Once that was done I loaded up the Beretta
303 and shot 8 dove in my pasture.

Good day. Moving along to more small crap. Waiting for my DUI .....

I can’t remember if you are a veteran or not, Nolen, but this feels appropriate here either way.

I was the guy that had to get up before the Army so we could fly those dopes somewhere to jump out of a perfectly good airplane

Back on the Sniper

Sniper Throttle Cable installation

This is a bit bigger job on an early truck (as is all of it)

The old pedal setup has the goofy linkage with very little “throw” and the arm for the linkage is a bit too far toward the motor to get a good angle.

I dug through the pedal pile and found this really nice setup I’m not sure I’ve ever seen before. It has the arm that goes through the firewall for 2F linkage (orange boot) but it also has the second arm with a flat plate.

Similar to a 60 pedal but it does not have to place for the plastic hand throttle tab.

Step 1

Cut off the arm that goes through the firewall.

Next, trim up the flat plate on second arm to work with your truck

Since I’ll be taking this in and out again a few times to do the power steering and mount the tranny hump I added M6 rivnuts

Then I drilled a hole just small enough to get the Lokar cable through the flat spot (red dot)

A couple of tips here. Make sure the cable stays far away from exhaust heat. It will kill a lokar in a second.

Also, measure up the length of your cable and run the cable lock onto the cable before you ever tighten the Allen nut or cutting the cable. You will likely never get it threaded back in there once you cut the cable.

Hook it all up. Bend the Lokar cable bracket like you like and tighten it all up once you make sure you are getting 85-100% throttle

@FJ60Cam at Mosley Motors provides the cable and bracket with his kit

Went to get the transmission hump in and install the shifters and I have the wrong damn Tcase shifter. So much different stuff on these 85 and up trucks.

Luckily Classic Cruisers had ONE setup and it was expensive but at least I found one.

I got all the holes cut and rivnuts installed. Forgot the damn fuel tank has to be out to install the hump so now I have to uninstall that

Thanks for the reminder on the gas tank!

I hit the same problem when I was installing a H55, so frustrating when you’ve done all the heavy lifting and are ready to button it up. Georg had the arm I needed for future reference, combing sites sucks ... looking good!

When I built the Goat I thought the red trucks did not come with coral seats and I put gray seats in....which I never really liked. Also, the back on the driver seat was added with extra padding and it never was very comfortable.

So I did a thing......thanks Mike @Cruiser Corps for the quality covers

Picked up the rear driveshaft. This is a converted to length FJ62 rear shaft with new joints

In related news I have to swap out the Sniper. This weekend I thought I had a bad one on my 60 so I borrowed a new one from a friend. Turns out it was not the Sniper so I’ll be pulling this new one off to repay him and put my year old Sniper on the Goat.

Fun times.

Hey @wngrog where's the write up on your previous FI deal? There was one before this wasn't there?

I took off the corvette regulator and went normal return FYI. Was having stalling issues.

I had big plans to jump on the Saginaw PS on the Goat Monday but I had to repair trucks from the weekend and then I went and blew the head gasket on my 80. Holy crap.

Tomorrow I’m making a cannonball run to Mosley Motors to drop this head off. Maybe I can start in on the final leg of the Goat over the weekend.

Nice, looking at a 3F install in a 62.
