Thanks everybody.

I just ordered a new box and pitman arm from Impex. Fingers crossed..... $1366.

My box is sitting on the work-bench torn apart, started rebuilding it and tore the teflon o-ring on the power plunger. Now I'm in a predicament as to toss even more money at the box (has two new bearings and a new seal kit) and hope I don't mess up the teflon ring again or just go new? I think I'm going new, then try to order the new teflon ring and have a spare to sell or keep on the shelf.

Anybody receive an additional customs and duties fee after their parts shipped from Japan? I ordered two new oem 80 series birfields, shipped via fedex from Japan. Like a week later I got a letter in the mail from fedex with an additional invoice for $34 and some change. Is this normal? I’ve bought a ton of stuff like this in the past and this is the first time I’ve had to pay extra after a part was delivered.
I just received a mailed invoice for customs duties from FedEx since the steering box was over the $800 duty free limit. $43. So I ended up a bit shy of $1,350 all in delivered.

still cheaper than other state side options by almost $1,000!

Just as an FYI, I called my local dealership, which are pretty bad, they told me there's nothing in the gear box that's serviceable, no such seal kit and that a new box is $4,000!

Can you please post pics of the gearbox you received? I’m curious how it compares to the others that have been posted that were recently delivered by IMPEX.

I just ordered the 105 steering box 44110-60212, pitman arm 45411-60360, and yoke sub assembly 45209-60070 from Impex. We will see. $1420 USD for me before unknown shipping and other costs.

Doh! They all become a blur!
I cross pollinated those two threads. My denigration of the Impex thread was to help others in documenting my process, costs, and validating I had received an authentic part.

Total shipping for in Colorado was ~$150 and then the $43 of duties. But base cost of the box at optimal exchange rate was south of $1,100.

just had a note after 5 days that my order was suspended for the steering box. Says it's possibly delayed until September 30th. Another month!

Supposedly my steering box arrives tomorrow. No import duties yet.

I have to say I am impressed with IMPEX. I ordered a t-case bolt, among other parts, that was unavailable anywhere else. It is the only 97mm bolt on the t-case and mine has severe galvanic corrosion. It is like $1.50. They just informed me that it will be custom made and shipping will be delayed. Maybe I should have ordered a few dozen...lol

I also ordered bolts for my rear locker, unavailable elsewhere. That bolt is no longer available from Toyota, but Daihatsu has the same bolt, so they just switched to the Daihatsu version. Probably the same source makes the bolt for both manufacturers, just that Toyota no longer stocks it.
