Searched and read everything I could find on the subject but still have a question: Could my circulating block heater be putting out enough heat that my glow plugs don't need to cycle even at -10 C? My indicator light does not come on unless it's below zero degrees celcius and never has come on at all when plugged in.

My truck has a glow bypass.
I am not sure 100% how it works.
Stone could explain more.
I push the button before I turn the key when its cold.

I think this interupts the ground on the (automatic) temp sensor.
Which makes it think its very cold, which in turn cycles the glow screens.
I belive you just need to find the wire and put a push button interupt in the circuit.

Cheers,
Nick

1) Your 13BT does not have glow plugs. It has a glow screen, at the intake manifold.

2) The stock glow system for the 13BT will not supply any glow unless the temps are around 0C...give or take a little either way, so it sounds like your system is working normal.

3) There is a window of about 5C above the temp where the glow screen comes on in the stock system where it would be nice to have some glow, but because it is not cold enough your system does not cycle. As Nick mentioned, there is a fix that has been posted on this site. Here is it: https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=24480
