I am trying to drop the glove compartment door on the 2001 cruiser. The fittings are different than the clips on my 2004 Lexus. They look easy to release but I clearly am missing something. Please help!

Unscrew the two hinges on the bottom, drop the door down a bit and remove.
You will also have to release the retractor string on the left side. The plastic piece looped on the end of the string is removed from the glove box somehow, i forget how. I think it pulls toward you and is released, or something like that.
You do NOT have to remove the string loop from the plastic piece which is a pain to do and even harder to re-attach (which is how I always did it until I discovered the proper way ro remove it)!
