i have to admit, i like the mad max look...

i can see that on the Tractor come summer...

whats the best way to make it be able to remove remove it from the side bars

Remove what:confused:

If you build an exo skeleton that actually works,it wont be light . Not to mention the wind resistance.

I think your troopy looks ok as it is.

Thats almost exactly what I want to build this winter for my truck. Its pretty hard to secure the boat on the frp top without a rack like that and the trailer sucks on rough roads. And incase you dont already know, its really hard to beat a nice rack.........

Looks like an awsome design, I was thinking the same for mine at some point... Perhaps make the back end either wide enough or partially detachable so you can take the roof off still, My bet is on a hot day with the FPR off but the exo still there it would increase the sweetness of the ride 20 fold!

how many lbs of steel do you guys think that design would soak up?

Hey Troopymad. Before you get rid of that rack, could you please take some pictures for me of how and where you have it mounted to the frame? I have a few ideas for how I want mine built, but I'd like to see how your rack is attached. It would help loads. Love the look of your truck.

Thanks
Phil

I guessed 58 ft @ 3.66 lbs per ft = 212lbs I used 2.375 inch o/d tube dia and 2 inch internal.
Im not sure if that size/weight is appropriate, its just something I found on an British steel merchants site:D.

The troopy is about 2ft longer so you might need another 8 ft @3.66= 28lbs
Most of those frames require 2 people to lift them comfortably so I dont think Im too far out:D
