You leave it running to continue lubrication to the rear bearings in the tranny.

Funny thing, up until a second ago I thought you were proudly talking about your all terrain tires ;)

If your truck has some sort of AWD/part time system and you tow it on a dolly without removing the rear DS you risk damaging the coupler.

If your truck does not have some sort of AWD system and you put it on a dolly but throw the tcase in neutral, and do not remove the rear DS you will be spinning the front DS... Potential issue there..

If by "Troll" you nean having multiple knowladge of multiple Toyota 4x4's not limited to LandCruiser's then, yes, I am a "Troll"

If you guys want to act like snobs then you'll be much more "comfortable" in a RangeRover.:grinpimp:

I ask simple questions, I give information to the best of my abilities to help others, not limited to LandCruisers. (L@@K @ you might learn something) There are other Toyota 4x4's you know.

LandCruiser....HolierThanThou

ALL AT's have the same way they should be towed. In my case I did leave it running , ideling for the 1hr return trip with the DS attached.

2MK as long as the internal pump is lubricating by the engine running, and the pump is not beeing towed with engine off.

Not DCing my DS cost me $2. I am lazy, you pull it for a dollar!

I have owned too many Toyota trucks to even list, I am not a Doctor or a Lawyer, I did not just go out and buy a HolierThanThou, and sitting around the house bored join a club.

THIS is where I stand sorry to offend, could you pass the GREY PUPON?:D

Newbie here, intro's later

Getting my first LC 80 2/16/07

Have to take my 4Runner and tow dollie by my self to get.

200 mi, O Trip, will be towing 4R, A.T on return trip.

Question is should I,

Disconnect my 4R's A.T's drive shaft.

Does it have to remain running in order to tow back with drive shaft still conected and in neutral?

My thoughts are to keep it running in neutral for the return trip, realisticly being towed 70-80 miles it shouldent use enough gas idling vs. labor d.c'ing then connecting shaft.

Any thoughts?

THX,

You've come to an 80 series Land Cruiser forum asking what you should do to tow your unknown year '4R' zero trip A.T. Your question was difficult to understand, as you used shorthand we're not familiar with around here. You got some bad information in reply (Yeah, putting a part-time T-case in neutral and towing with the rear driveshaft installed would be a bad idea :D). We're all sorry. Ask us some questions about towing the 80 Series you just bought, we'll get those right. At least most of us will. :D If you want good answers for towing your 4Runner, ask in a 4Runner forum. You might want to tell them what year 4Runner you have, though.
