I'm putting on a lift on my 2000 cruz. I ordered a arb deluxe brushguard and someday put sliders and slee rear bumber with spare and jack. Question is what size spring do I put on? I've read so many different sizes (866, 865,863  ) I do moderate offroad around the rockies and pull a trailer with dirt bikes or a boat. Thanks:bounce:

There are far more informed guys here that can answer your question better, but I have the 865. I don't carry much more than the occasional home depot run.

I also don't tow anything.

I would get the 866's if I were you. If you aren't going to add an aftermarket rear bumper for a while, the 863's are going to give you too much lift. You can always change the 866's out to 863's when you add the rear bumper. The 865's are a little lighter duty and may sag more than you want when towing your bikes or boat.

I currently run the 866's without a rear bumper and I have been happy with them. They yielded right around 2 inches for me.

Damn, should I reconsider my 865s? I'm putting on a TJM rear bumper next Wed...

With the new t-bars and diff drop along with the new rear bumper, the 863's will probably work better. I would put everything else on and see how it looks with the 865's. The worst that can happen is the rear will sit too low and will look horrible. ;) You can always add some 863's if it is sitting too low and sell the 865's on Mud.

And if the rear sits too low for you it's easy to trim pack it by 5, 10, 15 or 20mm.

You'll probably bottom out here and there. I did with 865's and no bumper going down curbs and hitting bumps..especially speed bumps.

Now with bumper and 863 I don't bottom.

Yeah...I am running 866`s and love them but my SLEE bumper is on its way, and I must admit I`m a bit concerned about the HUGE amount of weight that monster is gonna add to the rear.

I will give you a full report on the effects of the Slee after insalling it...I expect some serious height loss, but hopefully a couple of spring packers/spacers will bring it back to where it is right now..

I cant afford to lose the height that I gained by fitting those 866`s :crybaby:

I believe the 866 spring rate is same as the 863. So, yes...trim pack it back up and you'll be fine. Double-check that rate. I'm pretty sure though. J

It looks like the 863`s rate is 250 lb/in and the 866`s are 240-300 lb/in (variable rate spring)

I DO know that once you compress the 866 a bit, it gets VERY stiff, I think its impossible to bottom those 866`s out regardless of weight ! (and trust me.. I`ve tried !!)

Its been a real struggle to decide on a rear bumper..I waited until the ARB was released to make sure that I had no regrets with my purchase, but I feel confident now that the Slee will be a great investment ...

Very close to the same for the 863's and 866's. The 863's are constant 250 lbf/in while the 866's are a progressive spring that gets stiffer as more weight is put on it. The 866 is 240-300 lbf/in.

Also the 863's designate a PS/DS (passenger side/driver side) for each pair. The DS spring will be 10 mm taller than the PS spring. This can be corrected with a trim packer (spacer) to even out the springs if needed. The 866's aren't different heights, so they aren't labeled DS and PS.

Yes...yes. I remember. SORRY!

Should be interesting. Let's hope the bumper doesn't compress you to the stiffer area?

It seems to take QUITE a bit of weight to bring the springs down to the stiffer part ...but, then again, I hear that the Slee is pretty hefty

Oh..BTW John... A set of N74L`s is riding along with that bumper ! :D

Lets see if that mod of yours is all its stacked up to be !! ;)

SCUM! SCUM! I was hoping I'd be the ONLY one to ever have this setup. SCUM! :D :D

Hmmm, I wonder if I've been honest...you don't see any wheels off the ground do ya? I had more to go!

Everyone in this forum knows I'm not smart enough to do that. I have friends though. :D

Anyone wanna buy a set of brand new 74L`s ?...... :frown:

I don't have N74L's but I did get a pair of 2" shock extension brackets for the Lexus. The pink panties came with the LX. Anybody know the free length measurement of the OEM rear LX springs?
