Hello! Ive been a troll on these forms and decided to finally subscribe seeing as how im planning to get a 2009 FZJ71 soon... I sort of have one question when it comes to this off roader, Its kinda the deal breaker...

I keep seeing this a knob under the steering wheel that says "diff lock, off push rr fr rr" I came to a conclusion that this is the front and read differential lock switch. Is this an option? or is it standard on the FZJ71 short wheel base?

I love these trucks and am sick or unreliable American trucks! I wanted something to last a long time. Many people told me this truck as the way to go!

Thanks in advance!

elec diff lock manual control switch

ummm, you are on a land cruiser board so what do you think will be the answer to the reliability question?

!
Depends on which market you are in but generally its an option. Its about another $3K in oz for front and rear locker.

Im buying it in Kuwait so i would guess that would be classified under the Middle-Eastern or Asian markets.. Any ideas bout the elec diff lock manual control switch here and weather its an option or standard?

Thanks! Ill be visiting our Toyota dealership today to chime in on the 2009 models!

It depends, in our market (Venezuela) it's not available at all, not even as an option, I don't know about Kuwait.

But it's not that big a deal, I plan to install an ARB locker on mine.

Understood! I just got an email from the dealership saying that it was not available here.. :frown: So i guess ARB is the next best choice!

We have an ARB dealer here in Kuwait.. Guess once i get it ill have to pay them a visit!

Is it a long process? Do they open up the rear and front differentials to install?

Thanks guys! Im definitely getting one now... Just saw the ARB website! :D

When you go to test drive one just ask them im sure they would have a better idea that we would. And they would be able to tell you how much they are. If they are 3grand you could toss up whether you would want electric lockers or air lockers as they are the same price.

There is also the TJM Prolocker which is gaining acceptance in oz. Its supposed the avoid some of the occasional problems the ARB lockers have.

Both of these types replace the whole carrier which is the insides.

Hi Q8i FZJ71, Nice to hear another member from Kuwait :)

Have to tell you that am also from Kuwait and i also own an 2006 FZJ71 (had a 2002 FZJ74 back then)

Here goes to your question on (the Middle East market)

Before 2007, the Front-Rear diff lock was an optional thing.
After 2007, the Front - Rear diff lock is a standard in all 70series Land Cruisers.

Good luck with your Cruiser ;)

Hi! Thats with regard to the FZj71-1FE from the Al Sayer Toyota dealer?

I have one reserved and it should be out beginning of December, but seeing as how its winter season and people are setting up camp sites all over the place, the car is; as you know; in high demand!

Soon as i get it Ill post some pics up but this wait is killing me!

Thanks!
