I'm trying to eliminate the driveline thunk as well on our100 (99 with 185k). Curious, how did your CV splines look? Considering how worn the hub flanges were I wonder if it did a number on the CV splines as well.

Hope you finally solved the thunk on your truck!

Seems like the cv splines are harder and the hub flange is sacrificing itself. I have 250k on one cv and 70k on the other. They looked identical.

Good to know! Looks like i'll be ordering a new set of snap rings and hub flanges now and hope for the best.

Came across your thread late - first thing I saw was replacing the brake booster back in 2019. Can I ask about how much did that cost new? Mine went out about 2 years ago (flashing lights, beeping, etc, lost 90% of braking power, fortunately was in a parking lot!) and I had it replaced with a unit my mechanic got from a scrapyard for about $1000 If it happens again, I'm thinking will buy new and do the work myself!

At the time @Beno was slinging parts. The 1999 booster listed around $2700 if I remember correctly. He was kind to me and didn’t charge list. That year and booster just happened to be the most expensive.

Thanks I think my mechanic quoted me $2500 parts and labor for a new unit, so I went with "refurbished." Unit is rusty as heck on the outside but still does it job - if it fails (which I really hope it won't) will buy new next time I think.

Replacing the unit is a one banana job (easy yet time consuming). I think I used up three hours doing everything that needed to be done. Professionals will get done way quicker.

New pile of parts. Upper and lower ball joints, tie rod ends, Upper O2 sensors, shocks all around, front sway bar bushings, sway bar control arm bushings, and power steering low pressure hoses. Snow has slowed down any hopes of progress. Waiting on the thaw.

Georgine has been minding her own business lately. Then one night she decides to be involved in a shooting right outside my home. 1:30am and blam blam blam. A lead car stopped at the end of my block, a couple guys got out, and the car following them gets a lot more lead than Georgine does. Bullet penetrated the rear hatch (missed glass and defrost wiring), went through my seat (new Marathon Seat Covers), squirts out a foam French fry looking thing, and impacts the airbag assembly-bending the horn contact so the horn is on all the time. Insurance takes all the information and decides that due to Georgine’s age they are going to total the vehicle. One lousy bullet hole totals the Land Cruiser? I think not! Accepted their offer to total, keep the vehicle, and start the slow process of finding parts to fix her. Weird thing was that due to the age of Georgine and the nature of the damages, insurance did not brand the title as a loss. Insurance paid me a fair amount to keep my truck and left the title alone. Winning!!

Got a few goodies to install on the dash. Ram Mounts and a IPad cradle so I can run Gaia GPS. Bought a cheap amazon 200 watt inverter to keep the IPad from dying due to drain.

@97 AZ LC I was there and still can’t believe it. The extra cash after repairs will probably go towards armor!!

What a story, and awesome outcome! Glad no one got hurt. Looks like a big boy caliber.

If someone ever shoots up my vehicle I hope I get the same treatment.

9mm full metal jacket. Very small arms compared to some of the stuff I used to shoot before the “boating accident”. The rifling was squared off like most of the Glocks I lost in “the accident Of 2020”. Pictures of the sliders when White Knuckle OffRoad ships them out.

Primer, paint, and a few large u bolts later. Don’t forget about the brake lines that hug the drivers side to the rear, hate to pinch them.

Looking forward to dragging them on something soon.

Lonkey steering wheel cover. Fingers are numb. Looks good and feels great. Went with the 3/4 perforation. Will be having a go at this when the 80 gets back to me.

I know it's only been a couple of months, but how is that steering wheel cover holding up?
Any wear or twisting?
Would you go this route again?
Anything you don't like about it?

The install looks great.
