I got a Gentex mirror w/ compass & Homelink to put in the cruiser, but the mounting plate on the glass is different.

I guess I'm wondering:

a) where to find the proper bracket/plate?
b) how to remove my old one w/out breaking the glass?

Has anyone done this?

Phase one.

Found the bracket, it was a GM type which I got at my local Auto Zone. Pried off the old bracket SLOWLY to not crack the glass. Followed the directions on the mirror plate adhesive, and it appeared to stick.

Commenced to figuring out the pinout on my Gentex wiring harness. No go. Managed to snap, crackle, & pop the board inside mirror instead. In the meantime, the new bracket I mounted fell off.

I love DIY retrofits.

I'll post again after I get a new mirror & figure out the pinouts.

Dude,

Sorry for the lesson in deep frying. :crybaby:

Hit up Cruiser Dan. In his ROTW profile, he bragged up that he had a Scion tC rear view in his rig. He wired the homelink to always hot map light wiring, and the rest to the ACC hot sunroof wiring. He also mentioned to me that he scored a windshield button at CarQuest, and it seems his stuck, so you may wanna ask his secret.

(Get this! After only 4 months here on the forum, I sound like a pro! WOOT! :grinpimp: )

Good luck on your pimpin your ride effort.

Got this fixed. It was a Gentex 313, or GNTX-313.

Pins 5 & 6 are power (switched and constant) and pin 8 is ground.

I just took it to a windshield place to glue the bracket on :)
