Yes Diesel get more advantages from torque than gassers .. but as same as gas engines have a power band.

My 2H get max torque at 2000 rpm .. and max hp at 3500 rpm .. It means my best place to drive are at 2000 to 3500 ..

In my experience ( only my opinion ) drive my 2H more than 3000 rpm is not necesary coz you don't really get much more from your engine ..

in the city driving it's nice keep 3rd gear in some turns and let the engine up the arpm slow with torque from 1000 rpm .. it's really nice ..

But do it the same thing in the highway in 5ft or 4 shift is not easy .. I thought in the HW we need ( or almost me ) drive over 1600 rpm and my nice point is at 2500 rpm ..

At this range I feel the engine is pretty happy.

I think the actual tire size (diameter and width) and weight can make a significant enough difference with the low horsepower diesel that it should be considered. I was running 35" swampers with 4.56 and then switched to BFG's of the same stated size and I noticed a significant difference. The swampers are heavier and the OD is larger than the BFG's (which measure closer to 34"). Perhaps a 285/75/16 would be a great compromise as it is a little taller than a 33/12.5/15 and a little narrower. This way you get a slight overdrive with the larger OD and less rolling resistance as its a bit narrower. By the way, this is my hj60 non-turboed.
