Hi all,

‘’I’ve got an interesting one I think. The plate on my firewall says the gearbox in my 80 is an A442F but now that I’ve got the bottom off, what I’m seeing inside doesn’t line up with the service manual for an A442F. It does however, look like an A440F!

Can anyone assist me in identifying what gearbox I have?

Thanks in advance.

There was a non-electronically controlled version of the A442F that was used in early diesel cruisers. You haven't provided any information on what year and model you have would be helpful. In your pictures I see no solenoids which would indicate hydraulically controlled. The manual you are looking is most likely for the the electronically controlled variant only.

This is from the A442 manual in the Resources section. It is named as a1994 but that is debatable.

The main point is what is highlighted in the section below.
