That's a buddy of mine. He does some pretty good tube work if you need anything done to your truck. He'll be at Flatnasty in October and you can see his 4Runner Truggy to see some of his fab skills.

How do you find these ads?????

I should call him tomorrow about my sliders. I finally got the running boards off tonight. The DS was cake, even though the rearmost upper bolt was a b*tch as the body mount was in the way.

However, the PS was a real PITA even though only the two front bolts were still on (the lower middle and two rear were sheared off at Wash*ta leading to it dropping down on the way home when it finally worked its way off the middle upper bolt). Anyway, the running boards actually came off OK, it just took 4 hours to get the freaking bolts drilled out - and I have no idea why I did it as they serve no purpose now that the running boards are gone. I just couldn't stop until they were out. It's an OCD thing I guess. I need help.

Oh well. It actually looks better with the front mud flaps in place, the running boards off, the rear flaps on and cleaned up a bit - courtesy Waterway (they really didn't like me though when I pulled in).

Well, I'm off to figure out how to install the Slee in-cab winch controller I bought 6 months ago and have yet to install. As WFD175 expected it to be up and working when he was pulling my winch cable out, I hated to say "yeah I've got the in-cab winch control - it just isn't installed" which led to some comment about it not being very helpful when not installed. :bang:

Awesome work - really!

And props to anyone who does a birf job in the middle of the trail (not in the camp ground or on the trail road, but literally in the middle of the dang trail)!

That's my fat forearm in the picture. His was easy. It was all new and the grease was still clean. I broke and had to change one a week before that about 100yards from where he broke his. I had 5-6 year old birf soup to deal with.

Yeah, I copied the wrong pic - I was trying to get the next one showing you sitting on the ground.

Regardless, my hat is off to both of you. I felt damn proud to do the job myself in the shop with a lift and tons of room. I'm feeling pretty stupid now.

Its just too bad I just mailed off a check for sliders from SROR - maybe I can still cancel. I should call "C Jay" tomorrow and see what his pricing is for comparison. Damn, I wait forever to order sliders and then this shows up a day later when I finally do it.

NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Don't cancel the SROR order. Been waiting a long time for this milestone. Kind of like seeing Dan's jeep. (Which I still haven't) :) StlCruiser, did you also place an order.

STLCruiser also ordered, but from Hannah. I also like the Hannah design as it would make the best step outside of an actual step slider. I like the Metal Tech Cat-Guard the best (tough and great airflow). I also like the extra mounting bracket on the DS and the mounting tabs metal tech added for under-rig lights (I'd like to mount cameras there and feed them into a splitter going to a double-din radio screen). I like the Slee steps, but only b/c there are no other options (I don't like the cutouts/holes and I'd prefer the sheet that makes the step be flush with the top of the rub-rail). I also really like the newest sliders that use a piece of steel bent into a U to attach to the frame (with two bolts running across the top of the frame). It just seems really tough and simple - but of course, the industry standard U-bolts haven't failed anyone to date and I won't be wheeling all that hard anyway).

Sooooo, that is why I first tried to make my own that incorporated all the best parts I liked/stole from others. When that failed miserably due to my shoulder surgery, I broke down and called SROR but initially Jim was having all kinds of trouble with sliders and unhappy mud customers and told me not to bother as the wait would be too long. But now he says he can have them out pretty darn fast and incorporate all the design elements I want for significantly less than the competitors even including shipping (but I have an inside deal on the shipping anyway, so the price is even that much better).

But if I could get them done locally, maybe it would be even cheaper and possibly even faster . . . . . . :bang:

Miescha you seem to like certain aspects of all of the available sliders for your 80. You should have called my buddy about building you a set exactly the way you want them using what you liked about each company's designs.

Yeah, I didn't find him (here courtesy wfd175) until after I ordered from Jim at SROR. However, I did call and talk with him and then drove down to his place and chatted about what I wanted and what he could do (including a future rear bumper). I left with the plan to get my exhaust re-routed over the frame and maybe turn the cats at the same time, then get back with him.

Sadly, I got swamped with work and had to leave town for a bit and nothing has been accomplished.

"So you're saying there's a chance?" that you may have sliders from SROR on the way?

How about StlCruiser? Ready for FN Trail 4 this weekend?

I'll believe it when I see it! :hmm:

Like Dan's jeep.

I actually saw that. I think there's some picture proof here somewhere......may have been a weather balloon or something though.

Man, you guys are harsh!

I had no control over Dan's Jeep - I was just eager to see it in action.

As for the sliders, you got me there. I'm a wuss and I can't commit. I did tear into the exhaust and cats this weekend though so I should have that resolved by Friday.

Other than that, everything will be just as you saw it last time.
