Bought a new used gas tank for my 40. The guy said it only ever had three gallons in it. No signs of rust or anything. Virtually brand new. My question is what's the best way to clean the inside? Spoke to a couple radiator shops and they said They don't clean tanks. What do you guys think?

If it's in that good of shape with no rust then just put some gas in it and shake it around and pour it out. If what you pour out looks clean, the strap it in and fill it up.

My local radiator shop did mine although it was in worse shape. I had it boiled out then coated with POR gas tank coating inside and out.

I just took mine to a local radiator shop that still does it. They were the only one in town though. I think a lot of people quit doing it because most of the new tanks are plastic. Not enough call for it I guess.
