Hey guys, recently purchased an 82 FJ60 and have noticed a gas smell in the cabin. I also have an issue with gas leaking out when I go around corners too fast. I just ordered an OEM gas cap, don't know if that will fix the problem or not. Any thoughts on how to fix this? Thank you in advance.

Check all the hose clamps at the tank. Check hose clamp connections behind the access panel rear p side.

Something got blown loose... from the malfunctioning carbon canister check valve that over pressurized the tank.

Thank you, I'll check all of that tonight.

The hoses on top of the Carbon Canister - switch them around so the one from the tank goes to the port on the canister marked 'purge'.

Pressure is probably building up in the gas tank because the check valve in CC is corroded.

Do you get a 'woosh' when you open the tank cap?

Could also be as OS indicates a leaky Kon-tiki floating around somewhere in the mass of evap hoses behind passenger panel in the cargo space.

Where's the best place to get a new canister just in case?

New canister is NLA from Toyota - and was $300+ when available. But for around $60 you can get an aftermarket one Autozone VC120 and install like this:

Do you have a 2F or a SBC ? That kind of info is important and you should always preface threads with such nuances. :D

Will it work with a 350? Dunno. A few pix of your setup, for starters, goes a long way. It's just a generic CC so should work with any setup that'll accommodate it. But honestly, I hate V8s in carb'd cruisers and want nothing to do with them. :meh:

It's a 4bbl. I'll get some pics up later tonight. Thanks for the input on that as well.
