Have reviewed a few older threads on this issue, did not see any specific responses so wanted to open this up for some help, I have a 78 FJ40 with 350 GM 5.7L TBI conversion, prior owner(s) did a sub par job on routing the vapor lines from the fuel tank, getting strong gas vapors in the cab, pulled tank and checked for holes, all in good shape, slight leak from the drain plug and fixed that with new gasket. Of the (3) vapor lines from the tank (2) are plugged off, vapor tank seems to have flow but will likely replace, the vapor tank came off the suburban the motor was taken out of, also do not like the plumbers strap that was used to mount the tank. There is an in line external electric fuel pump installed.
Questions;
1. Do all three lines from the gas tank need to be connected to the vapor tank?
2. Should these be connected at the tank or should they run seperatey under the body and then Y connected together and then to the vapor tank?
Truck runs extremely well, idles good, plenty of power just need to get rid of the fumes.
Appreciate any help.
