Hi, I'm new to the forum, but have had my 1977 fj40 for almost 2 years. I have put a lot into getting this thing right, but I still have some work to do.

The gears are very tough to shift between 1st and 2nd. I had a new master and slave put in last year as well as a clutch re-build, but the grinding of gears is beginning to annoy me.

Does anybody know of a good transmission shop or fj40 shop in the san jose or san francisco bay area?

I would love to do the work myself, but I just dont have room at the house. Here are some pics of the fj. http://www.f***omi.com

I also would like to get some suspension work done and the front axle needs some work. It would be nice to find a place I could leave the vehicle and slowly get all of the work done.

Thanks in advance!

I forgot to mention Georg earlier. He could also recomend someone he is connected in the transmission circles.

For just transmission work research out a transmission shop in your area. You might contact someone in the MTA- San Jose TLCA club and ask for a referal. They are located in the San Jose ARea. Nice Cruiser.

Really nice looking rig!

I'm on the SF peninsula, and I'm having Valley Hybrids (Georg) 650 576-2023 in Stockton do a SO, high steer, front disc, sm465, skid plate X member, trac bar, and a bunch of other things. I visited his shop a week ago, and he does some nice work. Its 1 1/2 hours away, but worth the drive considering his labor and parts cost were very fair. When I talk to Georg in person or by e-mail, he is a very intelligent guy and knows his stuff.
