FZJ73 Harness Is Toast 👎🏽

Since your FZJ73 is carb'ed...would the 3F clusters work?

This guy from down under has some 3F 12V listed but no clue if they will work for you whole or as parts. You searched for cluster | Page 5 of 5 | Cruiser Utes & Parts - https://www.cruiserutesandparts.com.au/page/5/?post_type=product&s=cluster
That’s a great question. There are a couple of these on eBay. I suppose it would be a matter of it mating you the harness, which I know nothing about, unfortunately . Definitely some homework for the weekend.

Maybe you could get some more information about what exactly is 'shot'? They are not particularly complex circuit boards, and there are common components across the various clusters.

I'm pretty sure that the diesel clusters will not work for you. They have different indicators; for example, one for a timing belt. And the tach has a different redline.

Also, a good photo of the front and especially the back of the cluster would be helpful in identifying it.

I plan to drive up to Sharjah for the first time in the ex-police pickup which I just managed to get registered today. I will keep my eyes open. Mostly it is old AUS 75 and 80 series clusters that I see. BTW, sometimes there is a little number in white on the lower part of the cluster on the front that you can see looking through the front. Could you please post a photo of the front as well? The one at the start of the thread is a little obscured.

I asked the shop where it’s sitting to grab that picture. Stay tuned.

Wow...are you still using that MPH overlay? I always wished they would work on my 77.

That photo (in red) is Odd Iron’s personal 77 Series and yes they’re using the overlay. 😊

Alright, gang. Happy Tuesday.
@Bardiya is reporting no luck on either a harness or a cluster, although the former isn’t as much a priority. What we need is a replacement for the cluster and there seem to be none available.
Has anyone been in a similar position and successfully solved it? Would one from a 3F as @FJ73Texas mentioned work with some updates to the harness?

i have interior wiring harness just the front till dashboard part. complete . it is from a 12v KZJ78/LJ78 model .

You can repair your cluster. You still have it right?

What’s probably trashed is the circuit board. The ribbons get busted and the protective coating falls off. You have to go through it testing the board and the circuits on it. Repair busted ones with new copper ribbon tape. Once all good you can seal it up with a circuit board coating.

Cheers
