probably a stupid question... but im curious what the difference is between FZJ 80 and an FJ80?

Is a manual tranny available in all 199X year models?

What is the best engine for the 80 series models??

thannks

93+ are FZJ's because of the Motor and other changes.

No manual tranny in any NA 80 series.

'95-97 I believe has the best brakes and dual airbags also.

aahhhh how many times am I going to have to type this...

91-92, 3FE engine, mechanical A440 tranny
rear axle is semi-floating, has rear drum brakes, no ABS option
transfer case does not have a viscous coupling, all models have
center diff lock switch

93-94 1FZFE 4.5L (good deal more power than 3FE)
electronically controlled A442F tranny
available either with same semifloat/drumbrake rear axle as
91-92, or with a full floating rear axle with disk brakes.
This was part of the ABS option.
IF it had the ABS option a 93-94 could have factory lockers. All
transfer cases had a viscous coupling

95-97 Same as 93-94 but with different dash, all have rear disks/ABS/full float rear
have the "weaker" but more refined A343 transmission

No transmission other than 4spd w OD automatic was offered in the US. Conversion can be done for around $4k US.
