I am replacing some P/S hoses. Specifically the HP hose that is bolted into the steering gear.

The threads and the FSM all call for a standard flare wrench to get these off. I have PB-blasted it and used some mechanical advantage with the flare-wrench - no luck. I am about to just cut it off and use a deep socket. Any others have some input?

If replacing then yeah just cut off and use standard socket if flare nut wrench doesn't work. They are $$$$ from Toyota but any good hydraulic hose shop can remake them.

I also ended up cutting mine with a dremel to get a socket on it. Be cautious while cutting, there are other things in that tight spot you don't want to cut up. But I'd do it again without hesitation.

You mean like the positive starter cable? :flipoff2:

Wait till you try getting it back in!

If you end up cutting your hose off, I'd used a "close to the wall" tubing cutter to make sure that no chips end up getting into your power steering oil.

I cut the rubber part of the hose, then took a closed end wrench and snaked it up to the nut. Did not want to introduce metal shavings in there.

Just as an FYI, but If you use the small "close to the wall" tubing cutter they make no chips at all when they cut. Plus the close to the wall tubing cutter is very small, so it will work in a confined space like cutting that power steering hose metal tube.
