Don't get very excited about this. I did that with my E34 (few years ago). In about 100 miles all cracks start coming back. Old crusty leather is old crusty leather, doesn't matter what paint you put on it.I found this from legit street cars where he restored this E39 BMW leather seat restoration and I'm truly impressed with the results.

Treat this as "lipstick on a pig" kind of deal. Just think about paint being on stitches, cracking where leather wrinkles and so on. To me, proper cleaning and treatment would look better.
