How do you know of your fuel pump needs that little spacer/insulator ? It's a Feb '79 FJ40, stock 2F. Has an electric fuel pump, I want to go back to mechanical. Do I or don't I get the insulator?
Thanks, Ben.

Hopefully someone can correct this if wrong, but from my research if you get the non serviceable crimped together style pump than you will need a spacer, the serviceable type with removable diaphragms does not. I had an electric when I purchased mine and it had a non serviceable type installed in the block, when I removed the pump it had no spacer and the pump arm that rides on the cam eccentric was broken off. I have replaced with an oem serviceable type and it’s worked well so far.

easy way to remember this:
2 lines at the pump= no spacer
3 lines at the pump= spacer required
