I have a 1975 fj40, stock engine. The rig has not ran for a very long time as I’ve been working on it. I turned it over and it ran good. I came back two days later and my garage was full of gas fumes. Under the rig was a big gasoline puddle. There is a steady drip from a connector under the driver side seat.

I don’t understand what this connector is for. There is the gas line in from the tank and one out to the engine. There seems to be a 3rd outlet that is leaking and a square nut on the top to maybe close the 3rd connector opening....?I’m not sure.

I’ve only seen gas line components under the driver side seat of a car if it’s: a check valve, filter or electrical fuel pump. What is this? Do I even need it?

The 3rd connector is where the leak is from.

maybe it was a switching valve for a second gas tank?
you can delete it and run the line from the tank thru a filter to the pump,
