Hey all,

Here is the situation... The gas gauge 99% of the time is all the way at the bottom regardless of where the gas level is actually at. When I fill up the tank it shows that it is full. After driving for 15-30 min the fuel gauge drops all the way to the bottom again. Also, if I drive like a maniac (hard breaking and crazy turns) the fuel gauge needle moves around like it if trying to find the right spot. Not sure if this is a faulty wire or float problem. Anyone else has this issue? If so any suggestions?

Check the sender in the tank.
Remove the inspection cover over the tank and remove the sender. Plug it back in and move the lever to different positions to see what the gauge registers. The maybe try cleaning up the sender wiper contacts a bit?

How do you remove the inspection cover?

Thx

It’s under the carpet right behind the rear seat. Pull the chrome plate off the back of the floor and lift the carpet forward and you’ll see it. It has two screws.
