Just wondering if the fuel filter can be changed on the 2H I6 diesel without having to bleed the fuel system? On the OEM filter is says something about using a hand pump...

Since it just twists on like an oil filter, I'd imagine not....?

you don't have to bleed the complete system.
- take off old filter
-fill new filter with good diesel
-screw on new filter (handtighten only)
-open 10 mm bleed valve on filter bracket
-unscrew pump below the injection pump
-pump tillno more air comes out of bleed valve, just clean diesel
-close bleed valve
-screw in pump
done.

takes like 2 minutes alltogether.

usually it is a bit messy, because the pumps tend to leak, but diesel smells good anyway.

Thanks for that...

When you say "pump till no more air comes out of bleed valve, just clean diesel" what exactly should I be pumping on? The accelerator? I don't have a hand pump nor know of one for this use.

DGH

Yes, you have a handpump, right under the injection pump on the engine. It looks like this:
See the thingy with the white top in the right side of the pic? you can unsrew the top, and then you can pump...
cheers,
J
