SO I need to turn up the fuel on my 3B motor after installing a turbo last night. Can someone tell me how to go about doing this, I know there is a screw adjustment, 1/4 turn at a time, however that screw will not move, it looks like you have to loosen the large lock nut, if so what size is the nut?

cheers, cruise diesel

Try the search function on 'Mud.

Make sure you have a pyro installed before you make any adjustments.

no adjustment with out a pyro.

I used a standard wrench. Can't remember the size.

Crack the nut and adjust the screw, tighten the nut and hold the screw so it doesn't move. Also use some wire thru the thing so the nut doesn't loosen from vibrations.

But remember you need a pyro to know. going on colour of smoke won't work IMOP. It will get too hot.

On the 1HDT the locknut is 12 mm and the small screw turns with a 6 mm wrench or socket. I had to use a deep socket to get at the locknut. Not sure if your engine is the same but it's likely.

The lock nut happens to exactly match the size of every sliding spanner in my toolbox. Just make sure you use a metric left handed sliding spanner.

High Altitude Compensator

So my 1984 BJ 42 seems to be a bit different than ones I am hearing about. This vehicle came with a high altitude compensator, so the lock nut is a huge 27mm whopper. We cracked that nut then were able to turn up the fuel! I have attached some images so you can see what I am talking about. Let me knowif this something you know about.

Cheers!
