I just received the FSM for 1994 LC...HOLY CRAP!!! From the size of the box, I thought there was some packing material in there, but it was all book! I apologize for even asking someone to look up a FSM page for me, the thing is a bible and 1/2!!! Lots of reading ahead...

I do have a question (already!). It does not mention the ABS sensor removal in the front axle service section. Did some 94s come without ABS? Searching past threads says to remove the 2 bolts, and gently pull it out and hang out of the way before pulling axle shaft out. Is that it? The front axle service is the next thing on the PM list. Also, what Toyota SST (Special Service Tools) should I order from cdan prior to starting? I have seen some "homemade" tools, but just do not want to get into this without having everything ready.

Thanks again to all that have assisted with my question asking in the past. I hope I can answer my own questions with search / FSM combo (to be honest, I might have even more questions), but at least I will have some reference.

Cheers,
Riley

I did like you said and removed the two bolts and hung the ABS sensor out of the way, it worked fine.
You will need a IIRC 54mm socket (CDan) also a pull scale to set the trunion bearings. Marlin Crawler has a real cool one for like only 10 bucks. I have read that fishing scales work also.
Some brass drifts help alot.

Thanks loquito! Going to harbor freight for the drifts, miscellaneous tools and finally get a good jack and stands (quit borrowing from friend).

get good jack stands dont want to crush a mud memmber.
Have fun

You will want tall and sturdy jack stands. Not so much for the front axle service but when you need to install or remove the springs and shocks.

54mm (2-1/8") Hub socket (C-Dan, Sears, or tool truck), brass drift (HF), T-handle seal puller (Sears), spring scale (HF in kitchen section - $8), snap-ring pliars (Sears or HF), Torque wrench (Sears).

Thanks Beowulf! The shopping list just keeps growing...

Riley

PS: Beowulf, I plan to take your advice and go with OEM shocks and OME springs (stock height). That will come after the front axle service. I plan to call Slee and get their recommendation on the springs.

Thanks again!

Riley
