When turning the wheels or giving it fuel starting a sharp turn I get a lot of clunking and things in the front end. I'm assuming this is the springs and such settling in? I'm not used to so much noise coming from the independent suspension front end car I had before. I know this is more truck then anything else, and that fine...I'm just making sure, 1 its normal, 2 its not doing any damage.

That said, should turning and bumps and bumps during turning feel a little different on a solid axle vs independant? Felt a little "floaty" yesterday.

:princess:

There is whole bag of things that can make those noises.

Most likely are the spring packs shifting.
Worn suspension bushes
Tie rod ends.
Wheel bearings.

I would get a manual and go through the whole lot.
PO always sell when the front end needs a good going over because they dont want to do it themselves and they hate driving it:D

..

It feels like actual suspension moving and not loose or wandering steering. I'll get under there and start pulling on things when I get my house squared away...

New house
New car
New visa
Girlfriend

Things are pretty well packed right now....

Can I get a link to THE manual...the one you would use for all the answers? Or atleast a detailed name of it?

As a final check get someone to swing the wheel while you under there. You can feel them shifting with you hand if you cant see em;)

You can get a warranty on a 4wd? Not in oz,unless its near new and the salesman is agreeable and knows its a safe bet.

it could just be dry propeller shafts(driveline). I would take out both drive lines and clean and lube the splines. Paying attention the placement, use a marker to show the alignment on the ujoint to diff.

You could also try just lubing thru the zerk fittings on the shaft. Just don't over do it. Or you can actually get it to hydrolock. Might cause damage. three or 4 pumps on the grease gun is all it takes, needs no more.

the is "reasonable expectation" of all units sold by dealers. unless the defect was pointed out in writting before hand the dealer is responsible to fix the problem with in a reasonable period of time. of course if the unit is cacked with mud then abuse would eliminate the warranty...
cheers

INteresting enough, they seem to have gone away the next day. I'm going to say it was everything adjusting and settling after sitting on the lot for so long. I will be going back to ask what a few hoses are, why the light on the EGT gauge doesn't work, and if the oil pressure is normal.

Give the steering joints a grease up,that can help

why the light on the EGT gauge doesn't work,

There is a small bulb in the back. Might be burnt out. Especially if the rig is 24 volts, then it might have a 12 volt bulb in there. Or the wires never got hooked up to the instrument panel.

See the odd thing is....I THINK it was on yesterday when I was driving in the rain...but at night it seemed to be off. It is 12v with an inverter on it.
