Can anyone explain why there are 2 towers to attach front bumpstops? I have looked everywhere, but can’t seem to find anything on it. Secondly, if I am replacing the OEM bumpstops can I just use the empty front bumpstop tower rather than removing and replacing the OEM bumpstop on the rear tower. Thanks for your collective wisdom.

I'm a little confused on your wording, are you saying your front bumpstop towers don't have a rubber bumper on them? Are you installing Durobumps?

There appear to be 2 towers for the attachment of bump stops - one behind the coilover and the other is on the rear side of the CV. The tower on the rear side of the CV has the OEM bumpstops. There are no OEM bumpstops on the front tower behind the coil over. Have replaced the coil overs (King 3.0), UCA (SPC) and LCA (Total Chaos) and with the extra travel and larger tires (34 inches) I wanted to insure I didn’t rub so I purchased the timbres bumpstops to install. So what I want to know is why there are 2 bumpstop towers - do people put bumpstops on both? Second, does it matter which tower you put the aftermarket bumpstops on, if you only put one on.

Both front areas(in front and back side of control arms should have bumpstops on them from the factory, so 2 on each side for the front of the rig, you'll need a total of 4 new bumpstops to do the front of the rig.

Thank you. That’s what I was afraid of.

The good news is the new Timbrens will come with bolts that thread in, so even if you are missing the stock ones the Timbren kit comes with everything you need to install them, they just thread right in!

One thing to look out for, and probably why they are missing is because the OEM bumps will contact the 3.0 coilover at full extension. King recommends to grind off excess material from the bump on install. Who ever did the install must have thrown them out?

Durobumps states that you install their bump on the rear tower only.

Timbren also recommends mounting their bump stops on the rear only.

HTH
Weird because the pack comes with 4 for the front:)

Hmmm. My Timbren Active OffRoad Bumpstops only came as a pair. Sounds like I should install them in the rear position and not worry that the front bumpstop position is empty. Thank you everyone for your help. I figured I would get to the bottom of it here.

proly depends on what kit you get, Timbren has the "Active Offroad Kit" and the "SES kit", looks like the Active offroad kit comes with 2, the SES kit comes with 4, mystery solved:)

I would recommend putting the stock ones on the front. The aftermarket bumps are a lot softer than the stock ones and might over deform allowing you to compress your suspension too much. With the stock one attached to the front, it will make sure you dont overcompress your suspension.

With 285/75r17 (34") tires on full bottom out, my tires just slightly rub. I have stock bumps in the front towers and king air bumps in the rear towers.

That's odd... When bought direct from Timbren, the SES kit also only comes with two: Timbren Front SES

🤔

Bumping this thread (no pun intended)

I purchased the timbren active offroad kit and have decided to replace the front bump stops behind the axle. I'm wondering if I should have gotten the SES kit

Has anyone installed the Timbren front bumps on the LX570? Aren't the LC200 and LX570 bumps slightly diff in height due to AHC vs traditional components.

I’m an idiot on the internet but have never heard of this being the case. They have the same mechanical limit in terms of compression. Do you have a source?

Nah I’m the bigger idiot, I’m asking because I installed some other bumps and the trucks resting on the bumps right now in N

Got your PM. I just installed some too and I didn't find them to engage prematurely? Which Durobump did you get? I believe the right one is DBF17T. As I understand it, it's the same as the first gen Tundras. You don't want the taller second gen Tundra durobumps.

They also install in the rear bump stop location as the forward one will engage earlier?

To answer your other question as to AHC lift and augmenting for load, this thread may help

Thanks for the reply! They are 200 specific duros, I’m not sure if they are for a lifted application I’ll ask Curtis tomorrow to see, but at N they are on the bumps, rears are fine
