Like the title says I'll be doing my front axle service here soon and wanted to see if there are any servicable parts inside my AVM hubs. I bought the truck with them installed and have no information on them. Any useful advice what be great.

There is some gaskets, if they're in good shape just grease em and slap them back together. Or build some gaskets out of gasket paper but it probably wont be a problem. There isnt any bearings or regular replacement parts in the AVM hubs, just your wheel bearings and such for the rest of the spindle/body/knuckles etc.

Cut the needed groove in your axles while you have them out so when your AVM blow up you can go with Aisin:hillbilly:

Im still wet behind the ears so I don't understand this... the PO installed them

He says the AVM`s arent as good as the toyota asin hubs.

On the newer birfields, the shaft is longer, so in order to use aisin hubs on them you need to make a groove inwards of the one on the longer shaft to get the clip on onto it.

Depends which shafts you have, but I wouldnt worry about it too much unless your wheeling it hard.

What year is your cruiser

Its a 91

Just from a visual inspection I hope to reuse the existing birfs. They are not leaking bad or clicking/noisey, but I wanted to service the axle before going off road. I have no idea when it was done last.

Good idea on servicing them, my pinion just lost some teeth, and I suspect it may have in part been to do with a loose pinion nut.

Edit, you wont need to notch birfs on a 91.

But keep an eye open for aisin hubs off of a 60 series cruiser. Its good to have at least one for a spare...
