This pic sucks but it was the best I could do with the lighting conditions. What I'm trying to show is the slight, I hope, scoring to the end of the axel housing. There is a small area a little larger than the area of a nickle that slightly rusted. There is a line also that is not deep that runs in the same area. Are these things so severe that I need to get a new axel housing? If the pic is not good enough to tell I can take another tomorrow in sunlight and hopefully avoid the artificial light problems.

Vic, are you trying to point out the depression where the knuckle rides in a straight line and wears on the ball??
 
Scotchbrite the corrosion off by hand with a scrub pad, and call it good.


That thing is clean compared to A LOT that are running around bud.

No worries there. Rub some heavy grease on it and go.

If you're REALLY worried, you could fill the depressions with just about anything that would harden, sand it down and paint the ball. I don't do this myself, but I have seen it done.
