I drove my 80 for two years without AC before I finally fixed iit.
$200 denso compressor
$6 ebay expansion port
$10 ebay dryer
$50 R134 and misc
I borrowed a vacuum and manifold gauge set from a friend and did all the work myself. It's not hard and definitely worth it.
I replaced my entire AC system and even with some new lines from Mr. T, I think the whole jalopy was only like $1200 by doing it myself with all Mr. T or Denso parts.

She ices down to a brisk 43F on full blast with recirculating air. I will take that level of comfort on a hot day. I have blankeys available for anyone that needs one. :p
