i finally broke down and got some new front and rear speakers. Alpine 5-1/4" in the front, and some 6-1/2"s in the rear panels, over the wheels, also Alpines.
if anyone wants them, i have the little rectangular speaker grills from the front doors. I had to file off a little of the nubs that went through the panel, so i could push them throught hte speed-nuts, but i think that there is enough left. they are brown, and unbroken.
