Hi Justin, some advice from an old guy if you want it, No further action legal or otherwise is my recommendation. Walk on and put this behind you. I once had a very solid contract for a significant amount of money, I performed the service and the guy never paid me and I really think he never had an intention to pay me. So I hired an attorney, took 3 years and 25k to win the case, but I won. Tried to collect, guy escaped through bankruptcy, screwed a lot of people, my wife wanted me to continue the case and go after him personally. At that point I saw that this bad deal has affected me every day for 3 years, time to stop letting it distract me from my happiness and peace. I have a framed copy of the judgement to the left of my phone as a reminder to be careful who you trust. As a side note I heard that 3 years later the guy disappeared into the Alabama swamp. He pissed off someone a lot more serious than me and paid the ultimate price. But I only wish him peace wherever he is and he has no more hold on me.

Here in Ark. there is supposedly a law that says a hand shake is as good as a signed agreement. Maybe there is something like that where you are and you can take him to task and at least get some money out of him ti help offset the lease if you can't get out of that.

Of course it could take some of your time with the legal hassle.

Has anyone ever gotten any morally correct direction from capitalism? Unfortunately it seems to create moral deficit when it comes to personal gains. That is the way of the world we live in today. Sorry to hear about your deal going sideways. I have had issues over the last few years with all sorts of people in this regard including some I have known for decades. It has left me with a distrust of anyone when money is involved. Makes it hard for me deal with anyone when it comes to their price, I just pay what the person is asking these days. If they try to create an auction of sorts when it comes to overwhelming interest in what they have, i usually walk away.

Oh yeah this is no doubt as far as I am taking this. I was even hesitant to put it on here. I have done alot of deals over the years been burned a few times nothing super major. This one just really stung, being a Cruiser guy to Cruiser guy, Mud member with a decent reputation.
I agreed to pay his full asking, he accepted. The only reason I didn't go pick it all up over the weekend was the weather was bad and I didn't want to deal with the snow over the passes.
My only reason to post is to let others that may do business with him in the future (I doubt cause he is selling all his stuff). But he does have door straps and a few other things for a few companies.
I would be extremely careful in deailng with him.

Justin

When it comes to deals when money, or trade is involved there are only a few people I trust with their word. The rest, I watch them like a hawk and make sure my ASS is covered. A long time ago, I had someone come over and offer on something I had for sale, we went back and forth, I agreed to a price and he started to walk away. I told him with no money in my hands the item is still for sale. If I offer to buy something, I pay for it or put money down with a detailed signed receipt/contract with the bal due amount noted. It's not sold until money changes hand, I don't offer credit, they don't get it until it's paid for.

At least, if rustynail wants to pursue a remedy, he has a text stating he was "screwed" by the seller. It's probably 50-50

God, I wish you were near by, I'd love a piece of your shop.

Sorry to hear you got screwed. Unfortunately, you're joining a large club.

Irrelevant. What we're talking about here is HONOR.

Just curious , but was his reason for selling everything out of some financial desperation or just because he was done with that part of his life. Desperation in ones' life can be very troubling ?

Reading this me think of issues I have seen. If our legal system cannot get the money back , it is futile to try. The only winner in your case is the Attorney.

It's called planting a fruit tree in someone else's garden. Had a few instances to try out our justice system, criminal and litigation, best to stay out of it as there is seldom any real justice.

Sucks getting taken for a ride...New Zealand company soaked 5 grand out of me and disappeared from Canada..I felt sorry for myself for a good long time until I heard of other companies were taken for far more... Sent two HJ61s one had a fifth gear problem and the other one had a slipping auto..

Picked 3 1hz for George@valley, I could turn a high compression diesel with my hands..goes on all over which is crap...

Second this. No need to bring that socialist Marxist garbage to this thread.

ya, see mud? this is why we cant have nothin nice...

How about naming the bozo who snuck in so the rest of us can avoid him like the plague he is?

Apparantly I wasn't wrong about him after all.

In the 13 years that I've been following the small vendors that have popped up on the forums, I've managed to dodge the flakes. I tried to warn people nicely that Eshan's hubcaps were smoke and mirrors. I wouldn't let OCD Beetle anywhere near my NOS top. I told Oscar from PACOL his business model was not sustainable the very first time I spoke to him. I never took the samples Shane/aatlas sent me out of the box. Jim at SROR, yada yada. But for the last few years, I've modified my soapbox to say 'I've only been wrong once. That majo guy actually came thru with the hubcaps'. I just never bought in because my hunch told me there was something there that could bite me.

Sorry he bit you Justin.
